The sequence matters. Jumping to practice exams before the video and reading is like taking a driving test before you have sat in a car. You will fail not because you are unintelligent, but because you have no context for the decisions being asked of you.

I spent three hours on PartyRock experimenting with different Foundation Models — comparing outputs from Claude, Llama, and Titan models for the same prompt. That three-hour session gave me an intuitive understanding of model selection and prompt engineering that no amount of reading had produced.

Build something on PartyRock. It does not need to be sophisticated. The act of choosing a model, writing a prompt, observing the output, and iterating on that prompt will teach you more about generative AI on AWS than reading five articles about it.

Five Things I Wish I Had Known Before Starting

1. Bedrock is the exam’s center of gravity. The exam focuses more heavily on Amazon Bedrock than on any other single service. Understand knowledge bases, agents, guardrails, model evaluation, and prompt management before anything else.

2. Responsible AI is not soft content. It has a dedicated exam domain, and it is tested with scenario-level specificity. AWS expects you to understand bias, fairness, explainability, transparency, and governance in concrete, applied terms — not just as abstract concepts.

3. The difference between services matters more than their individual features. The hardest questions ask you to choose between two reasonable-sounding services. Bedrock versus SageMaker. Comprehend versus Bedrock. Rekognition versus Lookout for Vision. Study the decision criteria for each choice.

4. PartyRock is worth more than it looks. Three hours on PartyRock taught me more about Foundation Model behavior and prompt engineering than any other single resource. Do not skip it because it looks like a toy.

5. Perfect scores come from reviewing wrong answers, not from accumulating correct ones. I spent more time on my practice test reviews than on the tests themselves. That discipline is what turned a potential 850 into a 1000.
